We believe that: Passion = Truth + Freedom from Fear

Our mission, what we do, and the whole nine yards...

Socient is a digital agency for non-profits and civic organizations. We understand the challenges of being a non-profit organization: the small marketing budget, a volunteer-run staffing, low tech approaches, mission-focused operation, and hectic work environment. When and how could you fit in interactive and social media marketing?

We're here to the rescue!

Right from the start, our focus has been to make our community a better place. And what better way to do it than to assist and empower the non-profit organizations that creates social improvement and innovation, by evangelizing their causes using interactive and social media.

With that said, we're no saints either.  We like to choose the projects we work on and the clients we work with (yes, even in this economy).  We are not selective, but our goal is that we both grow and have fun on whatever we are working on: whether it's a branding campaign or membership generation strategy implementation.

Our approach

We believe that every resources your organization puts into marketing should be focused on revenue generation.  For example, branding tactics eventually leads to higher income in the form of donations and sponsorships, because when sales or donor relations call your audience, they would be familiar with who you are.  In addition, when your staff members are free to do other productive tasks because your website has a list of FAQs, it contributes to the bottomline. So we go beyond the conversations of "just having a website", by steering them into realistic, measurable, and achievable goals like "we want to boost our sponsorships and donations; we want to retain our members; we want to save staff time from phone calls". That is our value proposition.

During the project cycle, we use extreme programming in the development of web-based projects. We setup online project management tools for each project with a development timeline of more than 30 days so that we are on the same page and that we could archive our work process and measure progress. And, if a project calls for a platform to publish documents or conduct transactions, we have our own branded system that we recommend (although we maintain that we are a platform-agnostic company).

What could we do for you . . .

When you choose a web agency to do a project, make sure that you'll get along with them first and foremost (we've had our fair share of disagreements and some unpleasantries).   Then ask what they have done and accomplished for organizations similar to yours.  For example, if you are looking for social media marketing services, ask how have they used social media for their own business or for their clients?

Social media and search marketing. At Socient, we have first hand experience of developing local social media campaigns from the start, up until it reaches a point of sustaining membership activity. We know how to cultivate a community and how to properly set it up so that it gains traction out of the many social networking sites that are out there.

Web strategy and tactics development. Strategy and tactics development is why organizations hire us, most of the time :) During our initial meeting, we ask you what goals you want to achieve. Then from that conversation, we devise strategies and tactics that have measurable results so that we both know we are on the right track.

Web design and programming.

Search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM)

Micro-sites and e-mail campaigns.

Technical details . . . if you care . . .

Socient is hosted and powered by our very own brand Controlcamp. This site is based on the CSS framework: Blueprint. We keep up with technology and support implementations of Microformats and RSS feeds.

About Socient

Socient was founded with the vision of creating a world-class social enterprise. A social enterprise is either a for-profit venture or a non-profit organization, which uses business methods to solve social and environmental challenges.

In the beginning, we started to ask questions like: How could we create a viable business while serving the community? Will our projects be personally compelling? Will it be something we will use ourselves? How could we start by bootstrapping product development?

So we got busy and started working on our brands. We also knew that there are social and environmental issues that we are not particularly adept to tackle so we created joint ventures and partnerships, to at least gain traction, expertise, and faster entry to the particular market.

Socient is led by Founder/CEO Victor Ramayrat. He has formal training in information systems from Fresno State and masters in business administration from National University.  He is focused on keeping Socient agile and customer focused.  He works with both dedicated in-house and virtual assistants, and has many local partners and connections around Central Valley.

Socient is a member of Social Enterprise Alliance and Victor serves in the board of several local community benefit organizations.
