1. October 4, 5:00PM: ArcHop
First quarterly ArcHop . Thursday October 4th,
5-8pm at 1416 Broadway @ Tuolumne.
ArcHop is a response to the need for an improved built environment in
Fresno. Recognizing that we are at a critical point in shaping the future of this
city and region, we extend an invitation to the design community and public
to participate in quarterly exhibitions and discussions.
Our culture, our
city, and our architecture stand to benefit from an open discussion about
these topics. We welcome your thoughts, ideas, concepts, projects, opinions,
and experiences.
Concept
Design; the art of architecture
Direction; leadership for a growing region
Discourse; rejuvenate regional design culture
Architecture firms presenting their work will include the Taylor Teter
Partnership, Arthur Dyson Associates, Global Studio Collaborative, and

Downtown Fresno’s historic architecture
comes to life once more in this review of
remarkable buildings. Stunning watercolor portraits, paired with brief passages that
address each of the 24 buildings’ rich past,

3. October 4: Fulton Plaza Thursdays
If you do not feel ArtHopping on a Thursday afternoon and just want to relax and listen to a band at the Fulton Mall, head on over to the Fulton Plaza Thursday event. It features live music, food vendors, and a beer garden. Visit the Downtown Fresno Association for more information.
4. October 8, 7PM: Coil Yoga presents
WAKE UP YOUR SPIRIT THROUGH MUSIC AND SINGING! Savor the spicy grooves and dreamy melodies of New Orleans' Sean Johnson and The Wild Lotus Band who put a funky, mystic twist on kirtan, the mantric music of India. They guide call-and-response chants and play songs that soothe your soul in one moment and drive you into a state of wild celebration in the next. Seán also shares inspiring stories and insights about the healing power of mantra and music. Learn more.
5. October 19 & 20, 7PM: Central Valley Dance Conference
Chris Howell (Fall 2007 FAC Featured Artist) has been busy preparing for what Fresno Bee has dubbed "The United Nations of Dance". The show will be held at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium in Downtown Fresno. Participants in this dance conference include African, Mid-eastern, Zumba, Filipino, Irish, Folkloricos, Hmong, Javanese, South Indian, and Mexican performers. Visit the website for more information.
6. October 23, 8PM: Poetry in Motion
A Benefit to Inspire and Motivate Change.
This gathering is a benefit for KFCF with a portion of the proceeds being
donated to the New Orleans chapter of ACORN a nationwide non-profit
organization dedicated to rebuilding homes for the cities low to moderate
income residents.

7. October 27: Artza Palooza Festival
This is a special fundraiser that celebrates the arts. Hamilton K-8 Global Discoveries through the Arts Magnet is a neighhood magnet school. It is one of only a few magnet schools in Fresno that allows neighborhood children first priority into the school.
This would be an opportunity for artists to sell your wares in a festive setting to hundreds of shoppers in this pre-holiday season.
Artists, craftspeople, flea-marketers, neighborhood businesses, and information service organizations can each rent a booth space to display and sell their wares and spread their message to our neighborhood community. Learn more.
