FresnoArts Monthly: October 2007 Brought to you by the Fresno Arts Council

FresnoArts Monthly
October 2007 Edition

October is the Cultural Arts Month for the City of Fresno. There are many opportunities for everyone to be immersed in cultural arts this month. On October 4th, the Fresno Coalition of Arts, Science, and History (FCASH) is sponsoring the first Cultural Arts Conference. The conference boasts several interesting breakout sessions during the day. We hope that they are planning to record each session and make it available as a streaming video later as there are several concurrent sessions I would like to attend.

The conference culminates with a FAC-sponsored tour of the Fulton Mall, then to a FREE concert at 7PM for conference attendees at the Warnors Theatre featuring the music of Patrick Contreras. There are several entertainment options on Thursday night which includes the Shaolin Monks performance at the Saroyan Theatre and the Big Fresno Fair concert. However, having seen Patrick performed before, I would very much recommend catching a glimpse of our very own local artist. Tickets are available for sale online at $10 for non-conference attendees until October 4th, 3pm.

Aside from the conference, we are also kicking off our Membership Drive this month. Please support the Fresno Arts Council by being an individual or a business member. Your support allows the FAC to continue its ArtHop and Public Art programs, as well as fund arts marketing in our community. Please JOIN US and be a member today.

If you are an ArtHop venue, please remember to strictly adhere to FAC's ArtHop guideline on serving alcoholic beverages to your visitors. Please Support

The Golda Foundation has published a book, “Vali Myers-A Memoir” by Gianni Menichetti. The Foundation provides subsistence grants to poets, writers, painters sculptors and performers and seeks to promote public interest in the creative process, while affording artists a modicum of dignity in a country where most of their work is neither appreciated nor rewarded. To learn more about the book and purchase a copy by credit card, please go to: www.goldafoundation.org.
