This month, we would like to share great news about Fresno's own artist Agustin Lira, for being chosen as one of the recipients of the prestigious NEA Heritage Award. Also, art venues all over the city are showing great work from both visiting and local artists for July 5th's ArtHop.

BEAT THE HEAT! Make sure that you prepare for our warm weather and stay safe. Most of art venues have cool refreshments so when you visit their gallery, you are welcomed with refreshing drinks.

Events Promotion

We would like to welcome The Woodward Shakespeare Festival to ArtHop! As part of their pre-show, they will be showing the artwork of local artists for their ArtHop offering.

This month, the group is performing:

Othello: The Moor of Venice
June 28th thru July 28th, 8pm

Dance... Dance... Dance...

The Central Valley Dance Conference is gearing up for its 2007 Annual Conference. This year, an anticipated 24 groups of dancers and performers will gather together again to celebrate music and dance in a 3 day event slated for October 19, 20 and 21 of 2007.

Performances will be at the Fresno Veterans Memorial Auditorium with workshops held at 3 local dance studios. The Central Valley Dance Conference strives to include guest singers, musicians, dance workshops, and they are preparing a HUGE BLACK & WHITE PARTY that is open to all interested participants.

Here's a tip: one of the ArtHop venues serve drinks from one corner of the gallery and respectfully ask for identification from their visitors. That makes it a bit easier to enjoy ArtHop...

What's New!

1. We would like to inform you that our very own Agustin Lira, has been chosen to receive the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) 2007 Heritage Award.

2. Artist Registry for Public Art

We are continuing to build an artist registry for future Public Art projects with the Fresno County. Download a registration form to be part of the registry from the Fresno Arts Council website.

3. Artza Palooza - Read all about the upcoming Artza Palooza artist's opportunity on the Fresno Arts Council's website.

4. The Clovis Technopolis "Door Project" launched its website to provide updates about this public art project.

July's featured artist in the Blue Room and beyond is Linda Lloyd Pitts. Let your imigination go where it will as you view "Dreams, Images and Flights of Fancy" mixed media works of water color, acryllic and ink.

And for the second summer spectacular, join Margaret in the back yard for CLAY PLAY. Learn how to make faces and animals and whatever may strike your fancy. It is a beautiful evening opportunity for the family to experience an art outing together.

July 7th, Saturday at Sierra Vista Mall

CenterStage Clovis Community Theater proudly presents “The Sound of Music” at the Mercedes Edwards Theater beginning July 19, 2007.

You can see them perform song selections from "The Sound of Music" this Saturday July 7 from 1pm to 4pm at Center Court inside Sierra Vista Mall.

Advance tickets will be on sale.

July 14th - August 7th at Allard's Art Store

Alliance of California Artists is showing original fine art from Sat. July 14 to Tues. August 7 at Allard's Art Store & Gallery, 5350 N. Blackstone, Fresno. (Hours: Mon-Fri 8-6, Sat 10-5.)

The reception will be held on Sat. July 14, where there will be professional artists demonstrating, plus music and refreshments.
